The ever busy commercial city of Onitsha on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 came to a stand still as the exit of the first Indigenous and Iconic Principal of the Prestigious Christ The King College Onitsha, Rev. Fr. Nicholas Chukwuemeka Tagbo, O.O.N. was celebrated by the Old Boys of CKC.
The Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, an Old Boy of the college, alongside other distinguished Individuals and Nigerians moved in a colorful procession from St. Charles Borromeo Hospital, with a chariot bearing hearse, through Zik’s Roundabout-Awka Road- Oguta Road and halted at the CKC compound where the body was received.
Rev. Fr. Tagbo, clergy, educationist, administrator, poet, and mentor, was an eminent alumnus of Christ the King College Onitsha, and a member of the C.K.C Class of ’49. He was to turn 87 on 21 August, 2016. After his retirement from active priesthood service and teaching in 1985, he was in-residence at the Sacred Heart Parish Odoakpu, Onitsha, Nigeria. To many parents and former students, Fr. Tagbo was legendary and is called the Legend who molded Leaders.
